01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Just a short walk from Gotanda Station, Sushi Asahi serves sushi through a thoughtfully paced course format that seamlessly weaves seasonal small plates between nigiri. The well-rounded Asahi Omakase Course encompasses 20 dishes in total, maintaining an engaging cadence from introductory appetizers and nigiri through warm cooked dishes to a sweet finish. For an even more indulgent dining experience, guests can opt for the 22-dish course, which enriches the progression with botan shrimp, salmon roe, and raw sea urchin.

From Rich Abalone Liver Sauce to Seasoned Nigiri

One of the defining highlights of the progression is the signature steamed abalone with rich liver sauce. After savoring the tender, gently resilient abalone, diners are invited to mix rice into the residual liver sauce to enjoy every drop. When the focus shifts to nigiri, the counter presents carefully calibrated fish: savory lean cuts and well-marbled chutoro of Pacific bluefin tuna, scored mizudako octopus, and fillets touched with a fragrant sear. Paired with intermissions such as Saikyo-miso-marinated black cod, hand-rolled simmered anago, and clear soup, the meal carries a pleasant balance of intensity and restraint.

Sake Diplomacy and an Unpretentious Dining Room

For those enjoying a drink alongside the meal, pairing options curated by a certified Sake Diploma offer tailored pours designed to elevate the flavors of each specific dish. Beyond counter seating with close-up views of the chef's craft, table seating provides a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere without formality. In addition to lunch and dinner service, the restaurant also accommodates takeout with special bara chirashi boxes and nigiri assortments.
